Dr. J. Pontisso-Mahaffey, DPM

Dr. Pontisso-Mahaffey is a Podiatrist who has been teaching for the past 12 years in the medical field for various programs.  They include Nursing (RN and PN), Cardiac Sonography, Surgical Technicians, Medical Assistants, and Billing and Coding.   She has taught various General Education courses, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Microbiology, Biology, and Pathophysiology.  Currently, she is the Dean of General Education and the Distance Education Coordinator here at Felbry College School of Nursing where she has been for about seven years.

Dr. Pontisso-Mahaffey graduated from Michigan State University, majoring in Physiology and earning a Bachelor’s of Science (BS) before continuing her education at Kent State – Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine with a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine (DPM).  She completed her Primary Care Residency at University Hospital – Richmond Heights and St. Michael’s campuses.  Besides holding a medical license, she is certified in Medical Coding and Billing; and also is certified as a BLS Instructor and a First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor.
