On February 23, 2023, a student general assembly meeting was held with students that the college was informed by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Educations Schools (“ABHES”) that it (ABHES) acted to withdraw program approval for the Direct Entry Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program (AASN) because ABHES determined that the Direct entry AASN program did not meet the required minimum standard of 70% for placement (employment). We explained that placement is defined as verifiable employment in the field of study (ie: RN or LPN). We informed the students that the college was in the process of actively appealing this decision.
On June 30, 2023, the college received a decision from ABHES informing the college that their decision was final, that FCSON must acknowledge the teach-out agreement and maintain it, and is now directed to teach out all students in the AAS (direct track only) as required by ABHES.
While the current accreditation status for this program will remain in effect during the teach-out period for all currently enrolled AAS direct track-only students, the college remains accredited for this program through the end of the teach-out period, August 16, 2024.
We remain committed to providing the best education possible to our students in hopes of them achieving their goals.
