DR. EMILY S. HEROLD, DPN, MSN, RN, CNL.Program Administrator

Dr. Emily S. Herold is the Program Administrator at Felbry College. She has the authority, accountability, and responsibility for all aspects of the Licensed Practical Nurse and Registered Nursing Programs, including planning, staffing, and controlling program activities. She holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice Degree from Duquesne University, which she obtained May, 2015. Her focus during her doctoral program was of active learning and utilizing a teach-back method for communication.  In May 2012, Dr. Herold graduated from Otterbein University with her Master of Science in Nursing, with a Clinical Nurse Leadership and Advance Nurse Educator Certificates. Her quality improvement project was implementing a postpartum hemorrhage cart onto a maternity unit.  She graduated in June, 2007, with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from MedCentral College of Nursing.    

Dr. Herold’s academia career comprises of over seven years in both community college and university settings. Her experience includes teaching as an Assistant Professor of Nursing, Professional Instructor of Nursing, and executing the job of Clinical Coordinator. Dr. Herold has taught Maternal Newborn, Mental Health, and Health Assessment. She has been a part of clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings for Health Assessment, Health Foundations, Maternal Newborn, Capstone Preceptorship, Complex Adult Health, Advance Concepts, Cardiac, and Advanced Medical/Surgical nursing.

Dr.Herold’s professional nursing career includes over ten years of clinical experience in the areas of supervision, charge nurse, pediatric intensive care, adult intensive care, medical/surgical, antepartum, postpartum, labor & delivery, surgical, and emergency nursing. She has been a hospital staff nursing educator Medical/Surgical, Intensive Care, Transitonal Care, Cancer Care, and Surgical Services. Prior to her nursing career, she was a patient care assistant on oncology, pediatric, and orthopedic units. She is also a Pediatric Advance Life Support and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Instructor.

Her passion is in quality nursing care, active learning education, and leadership.

The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called truth. Such teachers are found at Felbry College which is more of a family than a school.
